This restaurant is one of the best biryani destinations in Delhi. As committed biryani fanatics, we jumped at the opportunity to have some Mutton Biryani, which we wolfed down in a matter of minutes. The succulent, juicy, and soft mutton pieces with perfectly cooked basmati rice blew us away. We highly recommend this place, but the prices are quite high, so frequent visits may significantly lighten your pockets!

Kolkata Biryani House is known for serving some of the spiciest biryanis in town, with variants in chicken and mutton. Some of their popular dishes include Kakori Seekh Kebab, Sole Fish Tikka, and Mutton Nihari. Knowing Bengal’s obsession with rice, portion sizes are significantly larger than those at most other places. We tried the Chicken Kali Mirch Tikka and Paneer Tikka for starters. Then we moved on to Chicken Biryani and Mutton Biryani. The chicken and mutton pieces were cooked to perfection in the biryanis. The portion size was good, and we came away fully satisfied.

Dil Pasand Biryani Point is a popular biryani joint located in Jama Masjid, New Delhi, and has been serving delicious biryanis at reasonable prices since 1998. A popular spot for biryani lovers, this restaurant offers various types of biryani, which customers have praised for taste, quantity, and quality. We tried the Mutton Biryani with some Chicken Nihari and were surprised at the price and quantity. Having devoured these dishes, we set our sights on the Shahi Tukda, which was quite good. Overall, we walked away impressed by what this place had to offer and urge you, the reader, to give this place a fair chance.

Matka Peer Mughlai Foods is a highly recommended restaurant in Delhi for Mughlai food. Located in the Pragati Maidan area, it offers a variety of flavorful biryanis, kebabs, and curries at affordable prices. We had heard a lot about this place from friends and locals and decided to visit the place to sample the food. The restaurant offers a cosy and warm ambience, which is perfect for a casual dining experience with friends and family. The decor of the restaurant is simple yet elegant, with comfortable seating arrangements and dim lighting that creates a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. We started with a Chicken Tikka and ordered the Mutton Biryani with Paneer Korma. We liked the food and recommend that you frequent this restaurant which offers amazing biryanis and accompaniments at affordable prices.

5. Beeryani 

Beeryani in Hauz Khas, Delhi, is known for its North Indian and Mughlai cuisine and of course its flowing beer. This microbrewery offers live music, great decor, and excellent service. Beeryani's scrumptious vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine, including delicious snacks and biryani, is highly recommended by patrons. The cosy ambiance is perfect for a new year's party or a post-work meeting. We started our dinner with a Tawa Murgh Tikka and followed it up with a Dum Gosht Biryani with Tadka Dal. The chicken and mutton pieces literally melted in our mouths, while the perfectly seasoned and tempered dal proved a great accompaniment to the biryani.

6. Aminia  

Aminia Chittaranjan Park is a well-known restaurant in Delhi that serves delicious biryani. The restaurant is known for its delicious biryani and Mughlai delicacies, including Pasanda Kebabs, Chicken Chaap, and Laccha Parathas. Aminia's signature biryani is said to be a light and fragrant dish that won't leave you feeling bloated. We were so hungry that we decided to forego the starters and order the Mutton Biryani with a Chicken Tikka Butter Masala. We loved this combination and, keeping an eye on the other menu offerings, decided to return eventually to sample them.

7. Sassy Begum - Biryani, Kebabs & Curries 

Sassy Begum is a casual dining restaurant with several locations in New Delhi, including Greater Kailash 1 and Zamrudpur. It is known for serving North Indian, Mughlai, and Chinese cuisines, including biryanis, kebabs and curries. The restaurant offers a takeaway option and delivers food all across Delhi and NCR from 11:30 am till midnight. Since takeaway was our only option, we ordered the Andhra Mutton Biryani with Kadai Chicken upon a friend’s recommendation. The pieces of mutton were perfectly cooked and the rice had just the right amount of seasoning and oil/ghee. We enjoyed the food we ordered and will certainly order again.

8. Al Jawahar 

This popular eatery, located in Ansari Nagar, serves delicious North Indian and Mughlai cuisine  and is known for its mouth-watering kebabs, biryanis, and curries. The restaurant is located in the ‘food street’ of Jama Masjid, which can be quite crowded. The food at Al Jawahar is highly recommended and worth trying for its authentic taste and affordable prices. We first had the Shami Kebab and Paneer Tikka for starters. Then we ordered Mutton Achar Biryani with Chicken Changezi. Lip-smacking is how we would describe the food. The simple interiors with no-nonsense seating are nothing much to write home about, but the food, with its taste and aroma, is what makes this place stand out.

Khan Chacha is a popular restaurant in Connaught Place that serves delicious North Indian cuisine. Established in 2012, it is a top player in the fast food category in Delhi. The restaurant is known for its perfectly made kebabs, including the Kakori Kebab, Chicken Tikka, and Chicken Malai Tikka Roll. Known for its North Indian cuisine and famous kebabs, the restaurant offers both vegetarian and non-vegetarian variants of their rolls, with the paneer tikka being a popular choice among vegetarians. We had the Aloo Tikka followed by one of their Mughlai combinations, which had Mutton Biryani, Chicken Tikka Rolla, and a Peach Iced Tea. We’ll definitely return. Will you?

Bikkgane Biryani is a popular restaurant located in Connaught Place, New Delhi, that serves authentic Andhra cuisine, especially Hyderabadi Biryani. It is known for its delicious biryani and has received much acclaim for its great taste and reasonable prices. The restaurant offers both seating and takeaway options for its customers and also has multiple branches. We sampled their Chicken 65 and Mutton Hyderabadi Boneless Biryani and ended with the dessert Double Ka Meetha. Good food and well-lit, cosy interiors culminated in an amazing experience, which we highly recommend you participate in as well.

Roadside joints like Zehra in Jasola Vihar are also known to serve authentic North Indian and Mughlai biryanis.
